Ladner Leisure Centre could reopen in three weeks

LADNER (NEWS1130) – More than a week after an exterior wall of the Ladner Leisure Centre broke away from the building, city officials now have an idea of when it might be fixed.

It’s estimated it’ll take between two and four months for the centre to look as it normally does.

The fitness area is back open, but the ice arena is still closed.

George Harvie is Chief Administrative Officer with the Corporation of Delta. “From my guess, estimate, in my experience it would be closer to four months. But we’re hoping we can do that while the users are inside the building, once we have all the clearances from WorkSafe.”

He says it’ll probably be between two and three weeks before the arena might be open again.

The facade separated February 20th.

Delta’s mayor has said the problem was hidden.
