Chef Chuck Hughes shares love of Mexican cuisine during online chat, AGO demo

By

TORONTO – Chef Chuck Hughes is set to tantalize taste buds with the flavours of Mexico during an online chat Thursday.

Hughes did a stint in Mexico as host of “Chuck’s Week Off,” which airs on the Cooking Channel. During the chat, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET, he’ll dish on his extensive travels in that country and share some of his favourite ingredients and foods.

To register, visit http://www.visitmexico.com/en/a-taste-of-mexico-in-canada.

After the chat, Hughes will spice it up from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. with a demonstration of Mexican cuisine in the Joey and Toby Tanenbaum Sculpture Atrium of the Art Gallery of Ontario. It’s part of the AGO’s First Thursdays event in which guests are invited to roam through the galleries after the venue closes on the first Thursday of each month to learn about art and enjoy live music. Food stations, sponsored by the Mexican Tourist Board, will also be available.

The cookbook author and restaurateur — Hughes owns Garde Manger and Le Bremner in Montreal — has also appeared as a judge on “Chopped Canada” and will be a judge in the fourth season of “Top Chef Canada,” which premieres Monday. Both shows air on Food Network Canada.
