Flowers and cards no longer cutting it for Mother's Day: survey

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – What you buy your mom for Mother’s Day next week really depends on her age, that’s according to a new survey.

It seems like all moms tend to get the typical things like flowers and a card.

Adrienne Down Coulson with Ebates.ca says they don’t really want that.

She says mothers prefer going out to eat, a getaway package to somewhere nice, or a trip to the spa. “The younger moms are willing to drop hints. Sixty-four per cent of them say they will actually tell people what they want and in fact over half of those people will select their own gifts.”

Moms under 35 say if you spend $75 on a gift, that’s appropriate. Moms over that age, on average, say $50 should be just fine.
