ENDERBY (NEWS1130) – Several hundred people stranded by a mudslide in the North Okanagan are finally free.

The road wiped out Friday reopened this afternoon.

Mabel Lake Road has been partially cleared from debris caused when an ice jam in a beaver dam melted, sending logs and mud down the river.

The road has opened a day ahead of schedule but will be single-lane alternating until crews can further clear debris.

Power has already been restored to most of the 700 people left in the dark after the mudslide took out four hydro poles.

There are no reports of injuries.
