16th Avenue in South Surrey reopened following mudslide

By

SURREY (NEWS1130) – Traffic is flowing again along 16th Avenue following an earlier mudslide.

The mudslide had the road down to single lane alternating traffic between 168th and 176th Streets, but it has been fully reopened.

Before the slide happened late last night, flooding began on 16th Avenue towards 200th Street. However, crews were not working all night; it was decided that that would be too dangerous.

At least one man who lives in the area says properties on 172nd Street were flooded last night but they’re now all drained out. He thinks the slide was just a freak accident.

Another man who lives on 176th Street is worried. He adds he’s never seen the water that high in the 15 years he’s lived there.
