Workers hurt at Surrey construction site

SURREY (NEWS1130) – Three workers have been hurt after a pallet packed with construction material landed on them at a large job site in Guildford around 10:30 this morning at 152nd and 105th Avenue. Megan Johnston with Worksafe BC says it appears the crane was lifting a sling of installation.

“The material dislodged, striking three workers on the ground,” says Johnston.

BC Ambulance Service tell News1130 two were listed in critical condition when they were admitted to the hospital, another was listed as stable. Johnston adds safety experts and engineers will now be looking into the incident.

“They are going to be looking at workplace factors that could have contributed to the incident. That could include things like the condition and set-up of the crane.”
