Many BC camping spots booked out for the long weekend

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – This May long weekend marks the start of the camping season.

Marnie Henne is the president of the BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association, which represents private parks. She says in terms of reservations, some parks are quite full.

But she tells us some of the smaller ones do have some openings and can accommodate RVs and tenters.

“Over on the Island, we’ve heard that a lot of the parks are getting to be full but there’s still some holes so that you can get a night here or a night there. If you’re prepared to maybe move in the middle of your stay, you might get a better chance,” she tells us.

She notes Fort Langley campground is a larger park that still has a bit of space for a night.

Henne adds bookings for long weekends need to be made early.

“If you have a longer unit, a bigger RV, [or] need full service, you should be booking for long weekends at least four to six weeks in advance.”
