Langley moms banned from driving after blowing ‘fails’ with kids in car

LANGLEY (NEWS1130) – Two mothers in Langley will have a lot more trouble getting their kids to and from school and other events over the next 90 days.

But RCMP aren’t apologizing for the disruption, they’re just happy everyone is okay after separate incidents within hours of each other in Langley on May 17.

Insp. Rob de Boersap calls each case troubling, saying both women, aged 32 and 37, blew a fail on a roadside screening device.

He says one woman was using her cellphone when she was stopped and the second had run her car up on a median and revealed she had no insurance.

De Boersap says officers are particularly concerned because both women were also driving a child under the age of 10, and one of the youngsters, a seven-year-old, was riding in the front passenger seat.

He says both moms have been ticketed, their cars have been impounded and they are now serving immediate three-month driving bans.
