Vancouver records seventh homicide of 2014

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver has recorded its seventh homicide of the year.

A 33-year-old man was gunned down after answering the door at a home on Gladstone Street near East 29th Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Neighbours phoned 911 after hearing multiple gunshots and when officers arrived they found the man badly injured.

“The man was found at the entrance of the home suffering from gunshot injuries. Paramedics arrived and declared the man dead at the scene. The name of the deceased is not yet being released,” says VPD Constable Brian Montague.

The man lived in the home and Montague adds this was a targeted hit. “I can’t say whether there were others in the home at the time. We are currently talking to a number of witnesses and trying to determine exactly how this played out.”

No one has been arrested but police are working on a suspect profile.

Investigators are not saying if this was gang or drug related and they’ll spend the day looking for home security camera footage.

Montague hopes to release more information about the victim and case either later this afternoon or by Monday.
