Spartan obstacle races to take over Mount Seymour

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The world’s leading obstacle race event series is hitting the Lower Mainland this weekend and you’re invited to take part.

The Spartan Race is a timed event series featuring races at three escalating distances in locations worldwide that culminate in a World Championship Finale in 2014 with cash and prizes for the champions.

Dean Stanton is the Regional Director for Western Canada and he says there are a number of events planned for this Saturday up at Mount Seymour.

One of the races is five kilometres long and features more than 15 obstacles including mud runs and trail racing.

The Spartan Super is over 12 kilometres long and features more than 20 obstacles with mud runs and trails.

And the Spartan Beast is nearly 20 kilometres long with more than 25 obstacles.

Stanton tells News1130 there are also races for kids that will challenge them on a variety of levels and money raised helps local charities.

You can register up until event time this weekend.
