VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – While Canucks fans look back Gino Odjick’s career, others are focusing on what could happen in Philadelphia today.
The NHL Draft goes this afternoon and, with the 6th pick and an unhappy forward, the Canucks could be working on a trade.
“This is the most unpredictable day in the whole hockey season,” says Rick Dhaliwal in the News1130 Sports Centre. “There’s a lot of chatter, but no substance, and you won’t find out until the draft starts.”
“But definitely, the Canucks are in play in a lot of areas. One is trying to get the first overall pick. Many believe they made a very good concrete offer to the Florida Panthers to move up. It may or may not happen. But at least they’re trying,” tells us.
Rick adds Ryan Kesler could be moved.
“Kesler’s made a demand to get traded; he’s given the Canucks a list of teams where he’d like to go to — anywhere from, we’re hearing, three to six teams,” he explains.
“A lot of teams are after him, no question about it. Does he get traded this weekend? Nobody knows. But Jim Benning did say yesterday he’s under no pressure to get the deal done this week if he doesn’t get what he wants in return.”
The NHL Draft begins at 4 p.m.
