Metro Vancouver beaches in good shape this weekend

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) -This hot weather means a lot of people will be hitting the beach.

Vancouver Coastal Health says no swimming beaches in Vancouver have any health concerns right now.

Jessica Ip with Coastal Health says swimmers shouldn’t be worried about the red algae bloom floating in much of Burrard Inlet.

“The weather is warming up so algae bloom is a natural occurrence during the warm weather. It’s probably not very pleasant to swim in [but] there is nothing to indicate it is not safe,” she explains.

The cleanest water with the lowest E.coli count in Metro right now can be found at Sandy Cove in West Vancouver, Locarno and Third Beach in Vancouver, Cates Park in North Vancouver and Iona Beach in Richmond.

The dirtiest water is found at False Creek East, which is two-times over the recommended E.coli limit for people.
