EDMONTON (NEWS1130) – The federal government is proposing changes to food labels that is aimed at improving the way nutrition information is displayed.
In addition to updating the format of the Nutrition Facts table, changes will also include grouping sugars together, making it easier for people to know how much of it is added to their food.
Suggested serving sizes would also be more consistent among similar foods.
Health Minister Rona Ambrose says the changes will be make it easier for people to make healthy choices.
She says there will be a series of online, public consultations on the proposals.
The consultations will run until Sept. 11.
