VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – You should be able to see the mountains more clearly over the next few days. The Air Quality Advisory has been lifted affecting some areas. People in eastern parts of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley are no longer being told to avoid strenuous exercise. Those with breathing problems like asthma can also head outdoors without being concerned.
Ken Reid with Metro Vancouver says the cancellation of the air quality advisory was largely driven by a change in weather conditions. “We are seeing slightly cooler temperatures in part of the region and a little bit more wind flow as well.”
Reid says it’s unlikely another local advisory will be issued later this summer. “Chances are small because we had some unusually hot weather right now, and that’s the largest driver for ground level ozone.”
The advisory was put in place Sunday afternoon.
