ICBC to start sending refunds to overcharged customers

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – You could soon get a cheque from ICBC.

The Crown corporation says later this month, it will begin sending out refunds to the thousands of customers who were overcharged because of a software problem.

The public insurer initially planned to mail them out earlier this summer but decided to hold back, waiting for two external investigations into the issue to wrap up.

Anyone who underpaid won’t be asked to pay the difference.

The average refund will be about $18, but the cost to ICBC is more like $39 million.
