No indication from government to prep schools: CUPE

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Ongoing talks between the BCTF and the province to end the teachers strike have so far failed to reach a deal both sides can agree upon.

CUPE President Mark Hancock says they haven’t been given any indication from the provincial government that school will be back in session in September.

“We haven’t heard anything from government about prepping schools at all,” Hancock tells us.

“The bottom line is if there is no deal in place with the teachers and there are picket lines around schools, our members won’t be crossing the lines and prepping the schools in any any way, shape, or form,” he warns.

The provincial government has promised parents $40 a day for each child under 13 in the public system if the strike continues into the new school year.
