The weekend is here again and so are some great events to get out and enjoy before summer slips away! I’ve got my hands full with some of my top picks for the weekend.
I’m starting on Saturday at the Jericho Sailing Club for the Vancouver SUP Challenge! Stand Up Paddleboarding is a sport anyone can try, there’s even a recreational race followed by a BBQ and celebration. I plan to do some reports right from a paddle board so tune in on the :18’s and :48’s for all the action from the water!
Sunday fun day for a full day of everything PNE! The Fair at the PNE is boasting some very exciting new attractions including the Game of Thrones exhibit which I cannot wait to explore and share! If you’re at the PNE this Sunday come and say hi! You can’t miss me – I’m in the bright green News1130 attire!
Corn is king this weekend at the Kerrisdale Farmers Market! Learning all about how to cook and freeze corn this time of year with Guichon Farms. Then off to the Vancouver SUP Challenge for my very first ever stand up paddle board race. This is the number one SUP race in Vancouver and the event itself really owned the whole surf/beach theme. From fresh coconut water, to changing with a Chawel to Elvis music on the beach for the anniversary of The King’s death….stand up paddle board racing is so fun! Even though I came almost last place, I still did it and took one for the News1130 team.
Sunday Funday at The Fair at the PNE! But before I could even consider indulging in Fair food, I stopped by the famous Dude Chilling Park for the second year of the Mt. Pleasant Vancouver Farmer’s Market. Eggs and berries according to the event coordinator where the items of choice today and I really enjoyed meeting and interviewing Mark from Siren’s Call wine.
The Game of Thrones exhibit had fans lining up before the Fair even opened. And the Westeros virtual wall climb was out of this world! Do not pass go – head straight to the iron throne for a photo opportunity. I also highly suggest the Timber Lumberjack show which is new this year and trying a Gourmet Burger! Crocodile and python meat are a few of their famous slider meat options. Big, bad burgers to satisfy even the ultimate burger fan. So many new and exciting attractions and free concerts this year at The Fair at the PNE – be sure to stop by and say hi to the News1130 crew when you go!
See you next weekend,
