How prepared is BC for an Ebola case?

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – BC is ready for the possibility of an Ebola case according to the BC Centre for Disease Control, it has ramped up preparations.

The health care system is being looked at overall and Doctor Eleni Galanis with the BCCDC says that includes making sure appropriate infection control measures are in place at hospitals.

“From a public health point of view we ensure that we have the appropriate notification protocols in place so we can find out who is sick and who may have been in contact with those sick people so we can take care of them as well.”

From laboratory aspects she says they are making sure they have the appropriate methods to safely transport specimens without infecting anyone else.
