PNE area is a parking ticket hot spot this time of year: city

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – After spending a day at The Fair at the PNE, the last thing you want is to walk back to your car and find a parking ticket on your windshield.

The City of Vancouver says the neighbourhood is one of the busiest spots for ticketing. But the Fair at the PNE says people should not be illegally parking because there is ample space on-site.

Laura Ballance with the Fair says they have over 4,200 parking spots “and a lot of people do not realize that they think it is sold out every morning of the Fair and it really isn’t.”

“There is very few [days when] we actually do sell out. So, we do encourage people [to park in our lots] because that does reduce the impact into the neighbourhood,” she adds.

“The final weekend [and] Labour Day Monday is usually a higher-capacity day. So there’s two to three where we will reach the 4,250 [capacity],” notes Ballance.

She points out they did reduce the price this year, to $16 for the day.

And if you want to avoid parking completely, she says for the first time people can take the Vancouver Trolley from downtown.
