A lot of us use our phones while on the toilet: survey

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Have you ever pulled out your phone in the bathroom? A new survey finds our mobile manners are going down the toilet

From messaging behind the wheel to texting while on the toilet, phone etiquette continues to slip into socially unacceptable and potentially dangerous territory.

The survey from Leger, conducted for PC Mobile, shows three-quarters of people admit to breaking at least one social rule with their phones.

With smartphone usage rising steadily, nearly two thirds of us think etiquette is getting worse. One in four of us admit to using our phones in the bathroom; about one in five still texts while driving.

These gaffes are not without consequence. Nearly a quarter have had something unfortunate happen to them because they were distracted — walking into a pole, for instance.

One positive trend: the survey suggests we have an increased focus on mobile security.
