COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – Mounties are looking for witnesses after they say a man minding his own business was attacked at random by a group of people in Coquitlam earlier this month.

The man in his 30s was walking on Westwood Street near Gordon Avenue between 8 and 10 p.m. on August 12th; he has some injuries to his head but was able to fend off his attackers.

The man is expected to be okay.

Corporal Jamie Chung says a weapon was involved, but doesn’t know why the man was targeted. “This is a random but isolated attack. We don’t see many of these types of attacks in Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam.”

The suspects are described as Asian. They drove off in at least two cars.

If you have information about this attack, you’re asked to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
