VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – As education negotiations go from bad to worse, where do talks go now?
John Fryer teaches labour relations at UVic and thinks we are in for a long drawn out strike now that mediation has broken down. “What Mr Ready has essentially said is that the teachers are not willing to accept the pattern that has been set in the public sector and until and unless they are there is not going to be a settlement. So it looks like there is going to be no settlement so the strike will just drag on and on.”
Both sides now seem to be negotiating in public as well, with BCTF president Jim Iker calling on Premier Christy Clark to personally step in and help reach a settlement.
