NORTH SHORE (NEWS1130) – Expect long delays getting on and off the North Shore tomorrow. That’s what West Vancouver Police are telling drivers, as there will be a lot of road closures for the annual GranFondo cycling event.
The closures start at 6 a.m., with the most significant being the Lions Gate Bridge, which will be closed until 8 a.m.
Neil McKinnon with GranFondo says there will also be closures on Marine Drive, Taylor Way and Capilano Road. “Besides that, drivers can expect lane reductions in certain areas while they share the road with the cyclists.”
He adds drivers should also expect extensive delays along Highway 1.
“What we’ve discovered is people mostly understand this and either stay off the roads and come out to cheer the riders or they just plan accordingly for that.”
