Workplace productivity down because of teachers dispute: SBOT

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The decrease in workplace productivity because of the teachers’ dispute is evident according to some business leaders in Surrey.

Anita Huberman with the Surrey Board of Trade says there are several examples of this. “Shift changes, people leaving early, coming in late that does increase stress levels in workplaces and I am hearing that from some of our members that we’ve been interacting with. It is a challenge.”

She says people who have kids at home are having to make a lot of phone calls to them as well. “They’re older, they’re at home on their own if they are older than 12 or 13 years old and the kids themselves, they don’t know what to do.”

She says people without kids have been impacted too as they’ve had to take on more work to help out their co-workers.

She says the workplaces are being compromised and this strike just can’t go on.
