VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The ongoing education dispute is having an impact on some non-profit organizations.
As schools remain closed, many have been forced to find somewhere else to hold gatherings.
Laurie Hooker with the Girl Guides of Canada says while some are still scrambling to find space, others have turned to community centres, senior centres and churches.
“Some of them are still attempting to secure space and it may impact the beginning of when their meetings start.”
She says it’s not all bad, adding there may be cost savings for some groups. “I do know there are some schools that we pay handsomly for, others that give it to us at no cost. It’s quite a broad spectrum.”
Hooker says once the education dispute is over, those that have found new locations will likely return to hosting meetings at schools.
