COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – One year after his disappearance, the family of a missing elderly man with Dementia is holding the first annual Walk for Shin event in Coquitlam.
64-year-old Shin Noh vanished after going for a walk in Coquitlam last year.
His son Sam says the past 12 months have been devastating for his family.
“This is just part of our life right now. Just constantly thinking you know maybe today will be the day that we receive some sort of resolution. Whenever the phone rings we get excited, hoping that maybe we will get some news, I don’t know. Our family is taking it one day at a time.”
“I have searched aimlessly in random areas and that is just mentally and physically exhausting. To be honest we have lost a little bit of hope, what we want now is some sort of closure. We want to be able to grieve,” he adds.
The family is also pushing for a province-wide “Silver Alert” program, so other families don’t have to go through the same grief.
The event is set to start at 9:45 a.m. Saturday.
