VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Trick or treat time is almost upon us. Are those goodies calling your name yet?
A new survey from RetailMeNot.ca finds 56 per cent of people are planning to pick up a bag or a box for themselves. Yet just half say they plan to hand out candy to the kids in their neighbourhoods.
But you could just not go to the effort or expense of buying an extra bag for yourself, and instead, swallow your pride and reach into your kids’ treat bags.
A quarter say they’ve done it — 46 per cent of women and 35 per cent of men admit to taking Halloween candy from a child.
It might not just be the candy that draws you into the festivities; how about all those decorations, pumpkins, costumes, and food for a party?
Eighty per cent say Halloween is getting more expensive. Those between 18 and 34 plan to spend the most, expecting to fork out $75.
But 68 per cent of Canadians say they enjoy celebrating the tradition.
More than a thousand adults were polled.
