Airlines doing more to protect workers from Ebola

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Everyday we are seeing more and more people taking extra precautions against Ebola.

Flight attendants with WestJet and Air Canada have always had gloves on board, but WestJet’s Richard Bartrem says they’re now adding medical grade gloves.

“In addition to the vinyl gloves that are on the aircraft, adding nitrile gloves, which is a medical grade glove that will be onboard the aircraft and available in crew rooms,” he explains. “The nitrile rubber is resistant to tearing.”

Both airlines say they have no objections to donning protection when collecting cups and things that could carry saliva infected with the virus.
