VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – With everything you see, hear, and read about Ebola, we want to make sure you’re well-armed with the facts.
A week-long series called “Ebola – Separating Fact from Fiction” will air on the News1130 Afternoon Drive show.
Tune in every day at 2:06 p.m., 4:06 p.m., and 6:06 p.m. to hear experts dispel myths around the virus, whether the risk to the average person really is “low,” and how our governments and health agencies are doing in getting out the right message.
We’ll also have all of our special interviews posted here each afternoon.
Here’s a schedule of what you’ll hear every day this week:
Monday – we speak with a UCLA infectious disease expert about the history of the virus, why is this outbreak so bad, and why there isn’t a vaccine
Tuesday – we talk to an SFU professor and risk communication expert about whether the government and public health authorities are doing a good job in both reporting the risk to Canadians and how ready we are for the inevitable case in Canada. Also, how the media is doing in general on telling the story.
Wednesday – *Cancelled due to Ottawa shootings
Thursday – we talk to the Canadian Public Health Association on whether the government/public health’s position that “the risk is low and we are ready” is actually true.
Friday – we’ll track down some local companies that are involved in the “boots on the ground” in West Africa and what they’re doing to help control the outbreak.
