What are we spending our hard-earned cash on these days?

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It seems we’re putting our money into things that last, rather than things we might do more in our day-to-day lives.

A new report looking into how we spend our hard-earned cash finds that throughout July, August and September, we spent more on home improvement and travel.

The report from Moneris Solutions says spending at home improvement stores went up by 8.49 per cent compared to the same period last year.

So it’s not surprising that spending on electrical contractors and plumbing and heating equipment also went up, by a little more than five per cent.

It seems getting out of town has been a higher priority as of late; spending on airlines went up slightly, as did spending on luggage and leather goods.

We doled out less on restaurants and entertainment; spending at dine-in restaurants went down nearly 6.5 per cent.

The company put the report together by analyzing data of debit and credit card transactions at Moneris merchants.
