Veterans Affairs launches Twitter campaign ahead of Remembrance Day

Veterans Affairs Canada is launching a social media campaign on Tuesday that asks Canadians to share their memories of veterans and active soldiers ahead of Remembrance Day.

Using the hashtag #WhoWillYouRemember, Canadians are being urged to tweet out their memories and stories in honour of those who have served their country.

“Who will you remember?,” asks Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs in a video.

“I invite each and every one of you to share a memory or sentiment about someone who has served,” he adds.

Fantino says he wants Canadians to “create a mosaic of remembrance that is our proud Canadian heritage. Lest we forget.”

The campaign runs until Remembrance Day on Nov. 11.

Remembrance Day will hold a special meaning for Canadians this year.

On Oct. 22, Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was shot dead while standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa.

And Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent was killed Oct. 20 when he was run down by a car in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que.
