Parts of Vancouver Island to get community mail boxes next year: Canada Post

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The first move towards community mail boxes in BC by Canada Post will happen on Vancouver Island at the end of next year, but the consultation process will start earlier, explains Anick Losier with Canada Post.

“We are going to be walking everybody through the process and then once we have decided on which location, if somebody has a better suggestion then we investigate those. It takes about 10 to 12 months as a process,” she explains. “We have announced a number of communities on Vancouver Island that will be converted at the end of 2015 and we are talking about 18,000 addresses and another 11,000 addresses in [the] Campbell River, North Saanich area.”

Canada Post began phasing out home delivery of mail in favour of community mail boxes on the east coast last month.
