Expect delays at northbound border crossings: CBSA

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you’re planning a quick trip over the line on Remembrance Day, be prepared for long line ups at all crossings.
Border guards are expecting a jump in travelers.
Officer Kristin Montague with Canada Border Services Agency says many people are taking an extra-long weekend.
With kids out of school combined with the Remembrance Day holiday she says you can expect it to be busy at all crossings.
“We’re recommending for people who can and have the ability to do so to travel on off hours which means earlier in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the delays.”
She says with construction still underway at the Aldergrove border, be prepared for a longer wait there.
“There’s no specific border crossing, we really don’t know when the traffic is going to come back and where it’s going to comeback. With regards to Aldergrove it would be reasonable to expect that there may be longer than normal delays because of the construction there, more so than normal.”
She adds crossings start to get busy at 1 P.M.
As always, she adds have your receipts and documents ready to speed things up.
