Feeling attacked, two Vancouver mayoral candidates reflect on the election

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Vancouver’s campaign is being described by some candidates as rough and aggressive.

Two mayoral hopefuls describe feeling attacked.

“I’ve never been personally attacked and that started happening back in the summer [with] family stuff. That was pretty rough for me and my family, my wife and I were separating and we got dragged into the muck on that one and then this fall it’s been really save, like US style personal attacks,” explains Vision Vancouver candidate Gregor Robertson.

NPA candidate Kirk LaPointe maintains his campaign attacks were not personal and targeted policy.

“I think we kept our word on that. I think our opponents at times strayed from that course,” says LaPointe. “I do think the campaign got aggressively negative personally. I felt in a lot of ways personally attacked, certainly ridiculed and I thought that in the end that was just unbecoming,” says LaPointe.

Both teams are out in full force hoping to make one final push of their platforms.
