Lower Mainland bracing for cold snap

LOWER MAINLAND (NEWS1130) – It’s not quite December but it definitely feels like winter around the Lower Mainland.

Several centimetres of snow fell in parts of the Lower Mainland after Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Metro and the Fraser Valley overnight.

And while that’s all over, the winter weather is not.

An arctic air mass has moved in – bringing cold temperatures and a biting wind.

Temperatures Saturday night are expected to drop to minus eight, with wind chill dropping that down to minus 15.

Extreme Weather Shelters have been opened up in Vancouver, a little earlier than anticipated, with extra space for about 150 to 200 people in need.
