By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The report that shots had been fired came in around 5 p.m. and when police arrived to the alley just off Hornby Street at Helmcken they found a mobility scooter with multiple bullet holes.

The 43-year old woman who police believe was the target of the shooting was located at St. Paul’s hospital where she had run after abandoning the scooter in the alley behind the Murray Hotel.

Police closed down part of Helmcken for several hours as a team off officers searched the area with flashlights.

A man who identified himself as Mike works in the area and heard the shots. “I heard very loud noise two times, bang bang and I start thinking somebody [was] blowing something up for a game and than I thought it was a real one, a real gunshot.”

Investigators believe that there was an ongoing dispute between the man and woman.

No one was injured and no arrests have been made.
