Crews monitoring after landslide in North Vancouver

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A landslide has come down into the Seymour River on the North Shore.

Part of Riverside Drive is closed, but North Vancouver RCMP Cpl. Richard De Jong says no one has been hurt and no homes are in immediate danger.

“They are monitoring it. The Seymour River, we think is stable, but it’s volatile at this point. There’s limited traffic to the area. It’s a monitoring and wait and see, at this point.”

Kristy lives in the area and says there are fears the river is going to burst.

“It’s dammed the river and the concern is, if it breaks, the river is going to rise eight to ten feet.”

De Jong says they have put a few homes under evacuation alert just in case the situation gets worse.
