New Surrey mayor officially taking over on Monday night

SURREY (NEWS1130) – The changing of the guards in Surrey is set for tomorrow.

Linda Hepner will officially be sworn-in as the city’s new mayor.

Hepner won the November 15th municipal election with over 50,000 votes. Doug McCallum ended up with over 28,000 votes, Barinder Rasode secured over 21,000.

Hepner says she’s been using the time to educate herself.

“A lot of learning what the committees are that the current mayor sits on and the files that she’s been actively working on and some transitioning.

Hepner will take over from Dianne Watts, who is seeking the federal Conservative nomination for the riding of South Surrey-White Rock.
