Report card gives BC Liberals low grades for accountability, poverty

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It looks like voters in this province are losing confidence in their government.

Insights West’s third BC Government Report Card gives the Liberals low grades on accountability, housing, poverty, and homelessness.

Mario Canseco with the pollster says the biggest drops were in two conflicting categories.

“One is on the environment and the other is on energy. So on that file, which is very, very difficult, they don’t seem to be connecting with those who want to see pipelines and LNG and those who are worried about environmental concerns.”

Canseco adds Christy Clark’s approval rating is falling.

“Roughly one third of residents are happy with the ways she’s doing things. The disapproval rating is at 51 per cent. This is the lowest that we’ve seen since the election victory. So, there are some areas where they really need to take care of and really connect with the voters again,” he tells us.

But on the plus side, the Liberals did fare well on crime and public safety, as well as the economy and jobs.
