By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s the world’s largest gathering of language and literature scholars and will bring over 6,000 participants to our city and 3,000 presenters, with 293 of them Canadian.

Executive Director of the Modern Language Association Rosemary Feal says it’s an incredible chance for networking noting many graduate students come to be interviewed for jobs.

“It’s a great opportunity to be in Vancouver and to have so many professors and students of languages and literature right here right now, it’s a marvelous chance to get to know this part of Canada,” she explains. “It’s exciting [and] we have around 6,500 people coming to Vancouver to share their findings on their research, advance their professional careers and have a good time.”

She adds there will be a major book exhibit and writers will be able to talk to publishers about their book ideas.

Many of the sessions will be free and open to public including several with a focus on Canada

The event runs Thursday to Sunday at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
