SURREY (NEWS1130) – Parents are still living a nightmare after their daughter was killed by a drunk driver almost four years ago can’t believe this day has come. The woman found guilty is being released from prison after serving two years of her three-year sentence.

While the victim’s family knew this day was coming, they say they still haven’t been able to move on.

Markita Kaulius says since the death of her daughter Kassandra, the family’s been living a nightmare. “A birthday, Christmas… there’s someone always missing.”

Natasha Warren drank a bottle and a half of wine while watching a hockey game and then got into a van. She slammed into Kassandra’s car at an intersection in Surrey and then took off running.

“I hope this lady does turn her life around,” says Kaulius. “She’s been given a second chance. I just wish my daughter had been given a second chance at her life, as well.”

“With us, we know our daughter’s gone forever. Ms. Warren’s mother will get her daughter back today. Mine is still sitting in ashes.”

Warren was denied parole last year over concerns she could reoffend.
