Moncton RCMP search for suspicious man reportedly carrying firearm

MONCTON (NEWS1130) – RCMP officers are searching a neighbourhood in Moncton, NB, after receiving a report today of a suspicious male walking down a street with what appeared to be a firearm.
Police set up a perimeter around a large area of northwest Moncton after receiving the complaint at about 11:15 a.m.
A news release issued four hours after they received the complaint asked for the public’s help in identifying a male, possibly in his late teens, with dark hair of average height wearing dark-coloured pants and a grey jacket with red stripes on the sleeves.
The Mounties say the initial complaint they received said he was seen walking down Katherine Avenue.
They have blocked of a number of streets in the surrounding area as they go door-to-door.
Police are asking people in the area to remain in their homes as they continue their search, which includes a police dog and emergency response personnel.
