ICBC not renewing licences or registrations until outstanding fees are paid

By

SURREY (NEWS1130) – Most of you pay the Port Mann toll when you cross, but there are thousands who don’t.

ICBC has a long list of people who aren’t able to renew their license or registration until they settle their outstanding fees.

There are roughly 25,000 drivers who have yet to pay their Port Mann Bridge tolls. Roughly 17,000 drivers haven’t paid their tolls for the Golden Ears Bridge.

“For some of those people, if they don’t follow the rules and pay the toll, I’m not sure they’ll follow the rules and stop driving without a license and that could have it’s own problems,” says SFU transportation expert Anthony Perly

His solution is to add the unpaid amount to insurance premiums.

It’s not just drivers, about 4,000 transit users and a little more than 9,000 people who owe things like child support are on this refuse to issue notice list.
