Many Vancouverites had hoped to see Seattle win the Superbowl

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Many Vancouverites were backing the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

But, is it a case of the more the merrier, or a matter of too many posers when it comes to bandwagon fans just showing up to support the team for the big game?

It depends who you talk with.

“It’s good to see,” says Tommy McDonald of the bigger crowd for the big game, after watching every Seahawks game this season. “It doesn’t really matter if they jump on at the end of the season, because as long as people are watching the sport, it just makes it more interesting, so whether they’re watching from the beginning of the season or whether it comes down to the Super Bowl, it just makes for a better time overall.”

Seattle Seahawks season ticket holder Justin Borsato was among the first people to show up at one local bar.

“Who cares? We’re a west coast city, it’s a west coast team, we don’t have an NFL team here in Vancouver,” Borsato says. “Seattle is our brother in the United States, and I think it’s great that we’re on the bandwagon.”

Many Vancouverites are wearing Seahawks jerseys about town, with our city hall even flying the team’s flag.
