A look at the ‘naughty art party,’ which is taking off in Canada

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s perfect for a bachelorette, a divorce celebration, or even your next slightly nude-ish corporate team building exercise…

The “naughty art party” is taking off in places like Toronto, where Graphite Stallions hosts an evening of hors d’oeuvres, champagne and sketching charming, chiselled, and completely naked men.

“It’s a very social event and a lot of fun to get together and let loose,” says co-founder Kirstin Bojanowski.

The parties are typically two hours of pampering and drawing.

“We have a private space that we host out of called Artscape here in downtown Toronto. The guests come in and they are warmly welcomed and given all the tools they need for a night of naughty fun and laughter.”

That includes a glass of bubbly and mood music before a little bit of art instruction, geared to any level of expertise.

“And then we lead into the big reveal,” laughs Bojanowski. “They get to draw one of our stallions. It’s a really interactive environment so they have a lot of fun with it.”

Stir your drink, ma’am?

Bojanowski says they’re often asked about their model selection process.

“It’s the most entertaining part of our business, for sure. We seek out model/actors because we are looking for someone who has more than just good looks. With the interactive quality of our events, we definitely want the models to be having fun with our guests. We look for a full, total package.”

Said without a single trace of irony.

Every Graphite Stallion is evaluated on what Bojanowski calls the PECS scale — that’s Personality, Easy on the eyes, Charming, and Sophisticated — and the artists are often surprised at how well they end up sketching as they are drawn in by the stallion.

“Once you kind of get loosened up and get going, we go through a series of different poses, and there are actually a lot of great drawers out there,” she tells News1130.

“We also encourage fantasy poses. We like people to be extra creative with unique backgrounds behind their sketch or different props and fun things. We’ve seen superheroes, we’ve seen warrior poses and even party atmosphere drawings where the model is holding out a martini glass. Our guests use their imaginations and really roll with it.”

Great to mount over the mantle!

Graphite Stallions launched last month in Toronto but Bojanowski says they have grand plans for the rest of Canada, from Montreal to Vancouver, looking to penetrate more markets.
