Shoppers disappointed with Target liquidation discounts

By

BURNABY (NEWS1130) – Many shoppers at Target are walking out of the store empty handed today, despite the company’s liquidation getting underway.

Many customers at the Metrotown location aren’t impressed with the discounts.

Signs saying “Up to 30% off” were displayed, but most items are marked 10 or 20% off; some aren’t even on sale.

Shoppers say they are disappointed. They expected more and believe even with the discount, they can get their stuff cheaper elsewhere.

“I was just looking for some dish soap that I’ve been using and it was 10 per cent off. I just figured it wasn’t worth getting in line for 70 cents,” says one woman.

“I’m not very impressed with the sale. It says up to 30 per cent. I only see 10 per cent. I’m very disappointed,” another shopper tells us.

Experts believe the discounts will likely get deeper sometime in the next few weeks.

Last month, Target announced it would be shutting down its Canadian operations after less than two years on this side of the border.
