Saturday Night Live celebrates its 40th anniversary

“Saturday Night Live” celebrated its 40th anniversary last night with a live special.

Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake opened with a production number that included many of SNL’s catchphrases over the decades.

It was a clip-fest, as well as a chance for SNL alumni to reprise their old bits.

Dan Aykroyd was back with a new Bass-o-Matic pitch. He later teamed up with John Belsui’s brother Jim to do the Blues Brothers.

The Weekend Update anchor desk had Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Jane Curtin. Their top story, of course, was the SNL anniversary.

Emma Stone paid tribute to the late Gilda Radner with a version of Roseanne Rosannadanna. Melissa McCarthy did the late Chris Farley’s motivational speaker Matt Foley.

Bette White got a kiss from Bradley Cooper in an all-star version of “The Californians” sketch. Garth and Wayne were back too, as Dana Carvey and Mike Myers re-teamed for “Wayne’s World.”
