VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A lot of fuss over a damp envelope in downtown Vancouver today.
Police, fire and Hazmat teams blocked Burrard Street at Dunsmiur after people at the Bentall 5 tower became sick.
The envelope was delivered to a law firm on the 25th floor and six people complained about scratchy throats and being nauseous.
Battalion Chief Rob McDonald with Vancouver Fire says they will always deliver a full response any time someone reports a possible dangerous substance.
“It’s not normal for people to get sick from an envelope. So, that leads us to believe that there must be something within that envelope or package that’s causing that feeling of nauseousness.”
He wonders if maybe the patients just imagined their symptoms after noticing the wet envelope.
