Dozens stranded on Grouse gondola for hours before reaching a station

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s been a very long day for some people on Grouse Mountain.

Thirty-eight people were in the Red Super Sky Ride when it stalled and it took over three hours for them to reach a station.

Jacqueline Blackwell with Grouse Mountain says the issue was a computer glitch.

“The tram is fully operational but, of course, we’re going to go through the protocols and ensure everything is A-OK before we start transporting passengers again.”

Blackwell says the tram was being manually moved into the station while the problem was being figured out.

She says this past fall, Grouse Mountain spent over $6 million on a new electrical system from a supplier in Switzerland.
