Lock out continues for Southern Railway workers

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s now the 11th week Southern Railway workers have been locked out, and according to union officials no talks are on the horizon.

CUPE 7000 president Bill Magry says managers have been running the rail lines and haven’t been able to keep up with the workload in the Fraser Valley.

“There’s a lot of agriculture customers out there with grain and feed for the livestock and a lot of them are not getting the service that they normally would.”

Magry says the managers have also on occasion not followed proper safety procedures.

“Between 20 and 30 people can not do the work of 126,” he says.

Southern Railway isn’t commenting.
